About Morgan
Here’s a get-to-know me via a favorite exercise of mine
I call it My Imaginary, Inspirational Board of Directors aka identifying the lovelies who inspire you and channeling that energy for yourself. Energy >>> envy. Always.
It’s fun! Try it out.
How-to: Make the list of people who inspire you. Write what you admire most about them/their work next to their names. It can be keywords or a sentence or two.
Then use that as your energetic compass to point you towards what you value and how you can express it yourself.
Here are mine:
Bay Garnett (eclectic sustainability, see: Cheap Date fanzine)
Rachel Nguyen (genuine vibes and intentionality)
Aurora James (elegance and authentic embodiment)
Gabriella Karefa-Johnson (whimsical vision, taste, and ethics)
Ariana Madix (high EQ and multitalented)
Tails the Fox - yes, fictional characters are allowed!
Feel free to share yours in the group chat ↴
Le Official Bio
Morgan Lindsay Nelson is a visual artist creating playful art prints for new & established collectors looking to adorn their walls with conversation starters, not just something pretty. She works in digital painting and illustration where she blends realism with camp.
Commenting on the experience of being a woman today, Morgan approaches her work with whimsy and irreverence. She is inspired by the intersection of high and low and her neurodivergent, Y2K-raised tendencies.
Morgan began her professional artistic journey in childhood selling one-of-a-kind collage cards to gift shops. This love of crafting evolved into art where she was self-taught and found her place in fashion illustration, creating work for boutiques and attracting the attention of luxury designers.
Today, Morgan’s work has grown to fuse those pleasing aesthetics with a deeper layer of commentary, diving into themes of pop/internet culture, religion, and womanhood. Despite being raised around gallerists and traditional art shows, Morgan believes in an accessible, equitable art world and chooses to exist outside of the gallery system.
She also is a woman in STEM (as well as the arts) and does occasional web development in addition to writing this very Substack.
What’s in a name…
About The Soufflé is a play on the original French title of one of my favorite movies, Breathless aka Á Bout de Souffle. The Rodarte-designed poster hangs in my room. Multiple viewings have inspired many creative projects. Needless to say, its roots run deep in my creative world and I wanted something symbolic of that when I named this publication.
